I’m Rose. I was born in São Paulo, Brazil, and raised along the beautiful coast of this incredible state. My passion for exploring the world began the moment I was old enough to travel independently. In the beginning, I saved every penny to fund trips across Brazil, which eventually expanded into adventures throughout South America, North America, and Europe.
I have now lived outside of Brazil for over 30 years, and my love for travel has only grown stronger with time. Today, my husband and I call the UK our permanent home. Since settling here, we have had the wonderful opportunity to travel extensively across both the UK and Europe.
Our travel journey has evolved over the years. In the beginning, it was just the two of us navigating the world on a very tight budget. Later, we explored new destinations with our two children as they grew up. Now that they have flown the nest, we are back to travelling as a couple, and occasionally alongside close friends.
So, who am I? Professionally, I’m a Chartered Building Surveyor, and an Architectural Designer. Beyond my career, I’m also a mother, wife and friend. In addition to travel, my word revolves around property, architecture, music, films, art, gastronomy, and dogs!
I decided to create “The Travelling Surveyor” to share my travel experiences and hopefully inspire your next journey. My goal is to inform, inspire and share the unique discoveries I make along the way. As an independent traveller, every single trip is meticulously researched and planned by me.
While I have many interests, my travel focus leans toward history, art, architecture, countryside and food. For me travel is a journey of learning and growing, not about taking selfies for social media validation. For this reason you will not find photos of me throughout these posts, only the beautiful places I visit.
If you would like to follow my adventures, you can subscribe to receive an email update every time a new post drops, or connect with me on social media. Looking ahead, I also plan to open this space to collaborators and guest writers who wish to share their own travel experiences. Whether they are friends, family, or fellow followers, anyone with a positive story to tell about these topics is welcome.
I also want to be entirely transparent: everything I write here is based on my own firsthand experiences, and I will always give my honest opinion. I fund all my travels out of my own pocket and do not accept sponsored content, press trips, or freebies of any kind. I choose my own hotels, restaurants, and attractions, and I never disclose that I am a travel blogger when visiting. This ensures I can remain completely objective about whether an experience is genuinely worth your time and money.
So, welcome aboard and thank you for joining me on this exciting journey!
Because I do not receive any form of sponsorship or corporate backing, this website is supported entirely by a few advertisements and carefully chosen affiliate links throughout my posts. If you find my content helpful, I would deeply appreciate it if you used these links when booking your hotels and guided tours. Using them costs you absolutely nothing extra, but it provides a small commission that helps fund the blog and keeps it filled with useful, high-quality, and independent travel information.
If you really enjoy my content, visit the blog often, and want to support my work even further, you can buy me a drink via my “Buy Me a Coffee” page. Every little bit helps keep this project alive, and I would be absolutely delighted and incredibly grateful for your generosity!
