2025 was a very good year of travelling for the Travelling Surveyor. We are grateful that we managed to travel to many interesting places and had four trips abroad and some travelling within the UK as well.

Morocco

We started the year with a winter break in January in Morocco and spent 5 days visiting Marrakesh and Casablanca.

We had a lovely time in Morocco and the weather was good. Read the posts to find out what we visited there.

If you want to book a trip to Morocco, before booking check the tours offered by Tourradar. They have a variety of tours to Morocco that suits the time and budget of everyone.

If you book any of Tourradar tours via my links and use code RoseG50 you will get a discount on your booking.

Brazil

In April, we went to Brazil and visited Campos do Jordão, Sorocaba, Foz do Iguaçu and Curitiba.

It was an excellent trip by car (except from Curitiba to Foz do Iguçu that was by plane) within the states of São Paulo and Paraná. The weather Gods were very generous to us at this time of the year and we didn’t have a single day of rain. Read all the posts via the links to see what we did on this trip.

We were travelling independently with a hired car as we are confident travellers and speak the language. However, if you prefer to be part of a tour and to have everything organised for you, I advise you to book a complete tour with Tourradar.

Italy

In June, we went to Sicily and drove all around the island. This trip included Catania, Taormina, Cefalù, Palermo, Corleone, Agrigento, Punta Secca, Ragusa, Modica, Noto and Siracusa.

This trip was the highlight of the year. Wonderful trip visiting the main towns of the island and experiencing all the art, history, architecture and culinary that Sicily has to offer. Don’t miss the Sicily posts where I write about every town we visited.

England

In July, we went to Ipswich and Sutton Hoo on a day trip with friends.

This was just a day trip, but a very enjoyable one. We had the opportunity to explore the Anglo-Saxon burial ground of Sutton Hoo (National Trust), home to one of the greatest archaeological discoveries of all time and view it from a 17-metre high viewing tower. In the afternoon we explored Ipswish, the capital of Suffolk. It is the largest town of the county and a significant port with deep historical roots and modern amenities, attracting visitors with its waterfront, culture, and architecture.

If you are planning a trip to England and prefer to have everything organised by a tour, you should check the tours Tourradar offers to many places in England.

In August, we went to Suffolk on a long weekend with friends. We visited Aldeburgh, Thorpeness, Southwold and Bury-St.Edmunds.

That was a very enjoyable weekend in the company of another three couples friends of ours. We explored the town of Aldeburgh in long walks on the beach, and eating seafood on Aldelburgh’s lovely restaurants. We visited Thorpeness, Southwold and on the last day on the way back visited Bury St Edmunds which was a surprise to see how nice this little town is.

In September, we visited friends in London, St Margaret’s and visited two National Trust properties, Ham House and Osterley House.

We also explored St Margarets and Richmond in lovely walks and visited Ham House on Saturday and on Sunday Osterley House. Another very enjoyable weekend in the company of nice friends.

Portugal

In October, we went to the Algarve in Portugal and enjoyed the last of the sun in Albufeira and other towns for another week break.

We spent the week exploring Alfufeira, Sagres and Lagos. The weather at that time of the year was perfect, sunny but not too hot.

We were travelling independently as we are confident travellers and speak the language. However, if you prefer to be part of a tour and to have everything organised for you, I advise you to book a complete tour with Tourradar.

The last two months were preparations for trips next year. We already booked a winter break in January in Tenerife and another trip to Brazil in April. In Brazil, this time, after spending some time in São Vicente with family, we are visiting Cunha, Parati, Ilha Bela and will go to my brother’s house in Paraná state again.

We haven’t booked anything for my husband’s birthday in June yet, but I think we are doing the Amalfi Coast again and will visit Naples, Caserta, Sorrento, Positano, Amalfi, Ravello, Capri, Ischia and Procida.

This is as far as the plans go for 2026, but I’m sure more exciting travelling will come up for the rest of the year. Subscribe to the Travelling Surveyor for exciting tips and itineraries and don’t miss any of her posts.
